Wikis

I can see how useful these could be, I mainly looked at book reviews and I can see how these could be useful in Library World. Most the ones I lookedat were either not in use anymore or haven't been added to in a longtime giving them a dead feel.

Samoa in Crisis

I just wanted to put a post to say, that it is so awful to see what has happened in Samoa I have seen some devasting footage of damage that has been caused by the Tsunami in my earlier post of Samoa, one of the resorts I linked to has now been totally devasted and the owner has died, so terrible. Having just been there it hits home quite hard. The Samoans are such lovely people, my heart goes out to them right now, just wanted to acknowledge dear Samoa at this time.

In the Clouds

This in the clouds module has been interesting, It has included a few useful tools some that I already use and some that I don't. Having a Gmail Account is great and makes it easy to use many of the programmes on offer. In this module we have covered, Google docs, Google calendars, Zoho Docs, LibraryThing and WorldCat. Using Zoho was good as I could import straight from the word document into my blog post which also meant I could play around with the layout and see how it would look, it also offers more word processing features, I think in this day and age when there is so much on offer it is great to be to use applications online rather than transferring from one computer to another via disc or a USB Pen, since there are already so many applications online for email and photos it makes sense to have calendars and word docs online also.
LibraryThing and WorldCat are excellent examples of the In the Cloud phenomena and we can certainly take advantage of them in our jobs. It is great linking to Amazon and the covers of the books. &It is a definate advantage of Zoho that you can post straight to your blog, but hopefully when I this to my blog it will transfer the links.

Beautiful slice of heaven Samoa

Samoa is absolutely wonderful, had a wonderful relaxing time, explored the island, did plenty of snorkelling and saw some beautiful tropical fish. Delicious dinners serenaded by the local musos. Met some fantastic people, great company of my family. Loved the fale and outdoor bathroom experience. Great friendly smiley locals. Other highlights included visiting Sinalei Resort where we had a delicious entree and beer on the water and Coconuts Resort and snorkelling at Lalomona.
